US Stocks Rise Amid Mixed Global Markets and Ongoing Oil Tensions
The US stock market saw some gains on Friday after a surprise jobs report showed employers cut 23,000 jobs last month. The S&P 500 futures rose by 0.5% and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 0.33%. Bond yields dropped sharply as the yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.60% from 4.67% just before the report.
The global market was mixed, with Germany's DAX rising by 1%. However, other Asian markets saw losses: Tokyo's Nikkei 225 lost 0.1%, South Korea's Kospi dropped 0.6%, and Taiwan's Taiex fell 0.4%.
The price of Brent crude oil also declined, falling 0.7% after rising nearly 4% on Thursday. The Strait of Hormuz remains a concern, with Iran close to a deal with Oman for its reopening. However, the Trump administration has ruled out Iran charging fees to ships, creating a potential roadblock.
