US Strike on Iranian Rocket Launchers Sends Asian Shares Lower, Oil Prices Soar
Asian shares and US futures retreated on Monday after a United States strike on Iranian rocket launchers.
The attack, which was confirmed by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, has sent oil prices surging as investors worry about the escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Oil prices rose over 5% to a high of $69.30 per barrel for Brent crude, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude jumped by around 4% to reach $63.40 per barrel.
The strike has heightened concerns about the impact on global oil supplies and led to increased demand for safe-haven assets such as gold.
