US Strikes Back at Iran with Attacks on Oil Tankers
US forces struck three Iranian crude oil tankers in response to the IRGC launching ballistic missiles at American warships. The US CENTCOM announced Saturday that no American personnel were harmed during the attack.
A U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks, according to CENTCOM. Following Iran's failed attacks, CENTCOM permanently disabled two crude oil carriers and completely destroyed a third vessel in the Gulf of Oman.
Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, stated that 'If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost.' The US official noted that the IRGC can't build more tankers, which are at the heart of Iran's economy, putting Iran in a tougher position.
