US Strikes Back: Three Iranian Oil Tankers Hit in Retaliation
The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran firing ballistic missiles at two American warships. The attacks occurred on September 5, with no personnel harmed.
An aircraft carrier and destroyer evaded multiple attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to the US Central Command statement.
The US forces permanently disabled two oil tankers and destroyed a third vessel, the M/T Kylo, near the Gulf of Oman. The Kylo was not carrying oil at the time and its crew was ordered to abandon ship before it was hit in multiple locations.
