US Strikes Cease Overnight as Tensions Remain High Over Strait of Hormuz

The conflict between Iran and the US appears to have taken a brief respite as Iran reported no new US strikes overnight into Saturday, marking an apparent break from nearly two weeks of consecutive nights of US attacks. The US Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment on this development.

However, despite the absence of new strikes, tensions remain high in the region following a recent escalation over control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Sirens sounded multiple times early Saturday in Saudi Arabia's Yanbu and Jizan provinces, which house crucial oil facilities on the Red Sea, due to a 'potential danger' that was later lifted.

Bahrain also sounded missile alerts early Saturday, but no casualties have been reported. The conflict has so far killed more than 3,400 people in Iran, according to the Iranian Health Ministry, while eight US service members and 24 civilians in Israel were reported dead.
