US Strikes Disrupt Iran's Oil Transport Network, Leaving 27 Tankers Stranded
The United States has targeted at least 16 tankers in strikes since the war began, disabling or destroying over 2.65 million deadweight tons (DWT) of capacity.
A total of 27 undamaged tankers are now stranded near Sri Lanka after offloading their cargo in Asia and unable to return to Iran to load their next shipment, according to Reuters.
The tankers targeted by the U.S. include six linked to Iran's official fleet, with a combined capacity of roughly 1.55 million DWT, equivalent to approximately 11.5% of NITC's 13.5 million-ton capacity.
