US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers After Ballistic Missile Attacks
The US military has taken decisive action against Iranian oil tankers in response to ballistic missile attacks on two US warships patrolling the region. According to CENTCOM, a US aircraft carrier and destroyer ship successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks.
Following Iran's failed attempts, CENTCOM permanently disabled three IRGC crude oil carriers: M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island, M/T Stark 1 near Jask, and M/T Kylo (also known as 'Noxen') in the Gulf of Oman. The crew was directed to abandon ship before it was completely destroyed.
'If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours,' said Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM. He warned that the US would not hesitate to defend its forces and destroy Iran's limited oil fleet if necessary.
