US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers After Navy Ships Attacked
The U.S. military struck three Iranian crude oil carriers in response to an Iranian attack on American Navy ships.
The strikes targeted the M/T Downy, M/T Stark 1, and unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo (also known as the 'Noxen') in the Gulf of Oman.
The motor tanker Kylo was completely destroyed, and its crew was told to abandon ship, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command.
'Let the message to the [Iranian military] be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost - taking out three of yours,' said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander.
