US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to missile attacks on Navy warships, warning that it will 'if necessary, destroy Iran's limited and exposed oil fleet.'
The strikes come after six months of on-again, off-again conflict between the two nations, which began with US and Israeli attacks on February 28.
No US personnel were hurt in the incident, according to the military statement. Two Iranian oil carriers were 'permanently disabled', while a third, unladen tanker was destroyed.
The tankers were part of a shadow network helping to fund Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard and its armed proxies in the region.
