US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers as Tensions Remain High
US forces have struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran's launch of ballistic missiles at two US Navy ships, according to the US Central Command. The attack occurred on Saturday and no American service members were injured.
Admiral Brad Cooper warned that if Iran fires on US vessels, it will face greater economic damage, including the destruction of its oil fleet. 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: if you fire on two of our ships, we will inflict even greater economic damage on you, we will destroy three of yours,' he said.
The incident comes as tensions between the US and Iran remain high, with few signs that Iran is ready for a deal with the US. The conflict has led to predictions of a collapse in oil prices to $40 after the end of the war with Iran, according to forecasts by Bessent.
