US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers in Escalating Economic Pressure
The United States has escalated its economic pressure on Iran by striking Iranian oil tankers near Khark Island and the city of Jask. This move is part of a broader strategy to disable or destroy vessels transporting Iranian oil, according to U.S. officials.
The targets were tankers linked to Iran's oil exports, which are critical to the country's economy. Most of Iran's oil exports pass through the terminal located on Khark Island, making it a key target for Washington's efforts to reduce Tehran's oil revenues.
U.S. forces disabled the M/T Downy tanker near Khark Island and the M/T Stark 1 near Jask. Another vessel, the M/T Kylo, was destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew was ordered to abandon it.
