US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces have struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) firing ballistic missiles at two US Navy warships. The incidents took place in regional waters, with the US aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer evading several Iranian attacks without casualties.

CENTCOM stated that the American forces permanently disabled the crude oil tankers off Kharg Island and near the port city of Jask. Additionally, an empty crude oil tanker was completely destroyed in the Gulf of Oman.

The developments come as US intelligence assessments indicate that Iran has become more confident in its ability to hit targets across the Middle East and is prepared to continue the confrontation for months.
