US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Alleged Warship Attacks
The United States has struck three Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for alleged attacks by Iranian forces on American Navy warships.
The Trump administration claims the strikes were a direct response to the targeting of US forces patrolling near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passageway for global oil and natural gas shipments.
No American service members were injured in the incident. The US military says two of the tankers were permanently disabled, while a third was destroyed after its crew abandoned ship.
