US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for IRGC Missile Attacks
The United States military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launching ballistic missiles towards two U.S. Navy warships.
CENTCOM confirmed that the strikes were prompted by the IRGC's unprovoked attacks, which the U.S. vessels evaded without any American personnel being injured.
The three Iranian oil tankers involved in the covert oil shipment near Kharg Island terminal were identified as M/T Downy, M/T Kylo, and another vessel whose status was not specified.
CENTCOM said that it had completely destroyed one of the vessels, permanently disabled another off the coast of Kharg Island, and rendered a third inoperable in the Gulf of Oman after its crew abandoned ship.
