US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Missile Attacks
US military forces have struck three Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for Iranian ballistic missile strikes against American aircraft and destroyers. The incident occurred on Saturday morning, with the US Central Command stating that two of the tankers were 'permanently disabled' and one completely destroyed.
The IRGC navy had warned vessels in the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz to avoid unauthorized waterways or risk being targeted. However, the US claims that the Iranian crude oil tankers are part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network funding the IRGC and its regional proxies.
Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, stated, 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'
