US Strikes Iranian Tankers Amid Ongoing Maritime Tensions
The U.S. has reaffirmed its policy of responding to Iran's attacks on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and has attacked two Iranian government tankers.
According to Axios, this is part of President Donald Trump's approved 'oil tankers versus tankers' policy.
The Iranian tankers were anchored off the coast of Iran, north of the U.S. maritime blockade, and the missiles fired by U.S. drones hit the ship's engine room.
The U.S. military also targeted the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)'s air defense bases, radar systems, mine-laying facilities, and communication facilities.
