US Strikes Iranian Tankers as Tensions Escalate in Strait of Hormuz
The US military has struck Iranian oil tankers in response to attempted missile attacks on a Navy warship. This comes just three days after US forces destroyed three Iranian oil tankers.
The latest strikes were carried out in the Gulf of Oman, where the Kivik, Charminar, Horizon 1, and Riesco tankers were destroyed. The Derya vessel was also targeted near Kharg Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the US will not allow Iran's attacks to go unanswered. He stated that for every time Iran tries to hit US naval ships, they 'are going to lose tankers'.
