The US military has launched strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran attacked American warships. The strikes were aimed at Iranian positions on Kish Island and Bandar Abbas.

According to Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin and Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, the US military forces struck targets in the Iranian port 'in self-defense'.

The attacks damaged the Bahman commercial pier on Kish Island, while the Iranian navy claimed it had attacked three American destroyers near the Strait of Hormuz after a strike on an Iranian oil tanker.
