US Strikes Resume After Tanker Attacks in Strait of Hormuz
The United States has resumed airstrikes against Iran after two tankers carrying Saudi oil were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Central Command. The attacks occurred late Monday evening, with the tankers reportedly struck by unknown projectiles while transiting outbound through the strait.
President Donald Trump warned Iran not to retaliate, stating that 'if the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level.'
The US has been imposing economic pressure on Iran since pulling out of the nuclear deal in 2018. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans to roll out additional secondary sanctions, dubbed 'Operation Economic Outcast,' which aims to cut Iran off from global financial systems.
