US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers After Navy Ships Targeted
The US military has taken aggressive action against three Iranian oil tankers in response to what it claims were unprovoked missile attacks on its navy ships.
No US personnel were injured in the incident, but the tankers were severely damaged. According to the US statement, two of the tankers were 'permanently disabled', while a third, which was reportedly empty, was destroyed.
The US military says it targeted the tankers as part of a shadow network that helps fund Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard. Iran has accused the US of attacking one of its oil tankers near Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf earlier this week.
