US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
US military forces struck three Iranian oil tankers on Saturday in response to an alleged missile attack on American warships. The attack marks a new escalation in tensions between the two nations, which have been locked in a conflict for over six months.
The US military stated that their aircraft carrier and destroyer evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks while patrolling the region, with no US personnel injured. Two of the Iranian oil tankers were permanently disabled, while the third was destroyed.
The US claimed that the tankers were part of a shadow network helping to fund Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard and its armed proxies in the region.
Iran has not yet responded to the attack, but the US has warned that it will take further action if necessary, stating that it would 'destroy Iran's limited and exposed oil fleet'.
