US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions
The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to an attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on two US Navy ships. The incident occurred on Saturday, with US Central Command stating that it targeted the three vessels after Iran launched ballistic missiles at the American warships.
Adm. Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, said 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps responded by threatening intensified strikes against US military vessels in the region and targeting three tankers as well as three US-linked vessels in other areas.
