US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions
The US military struck three Iranian oil tankers on Saturday in response to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launching ballistic missiles at two US Navy ships, according to a statement from the US Central Command. The US forces targeted the vessels off the coast of Kharg Island, near Iran's oil export hub.
US Central Command said it took out three Iranian oil carriers after Iran's IRGC launched missiles at two US Navy ships. 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours,' said Adm. Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command.
The IRGC responded by threatening intensified strikes against US military vessels in the region and targeting three tankers as well as three US-linked vessels in other areas.
