US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Missile Attacks
The US military has struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to Iran targeting two US Navy warships. According to CENTCOM, the Iranian missile attacks on the American vessels were evaded, with no US personnel injured.
CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the strikes aimed to impose an economic cost on Iran after the missile attacks on US Navy ships. 'If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours,' he said.
The targeted tankers were part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that helps fund Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its regional proxies. The US military released footage of the operation, showing US forces targeting the Iranian oil tankers.
