US Targets Iranian Oil Tankers, Sparking Widespread Condemnation
The United States military has claimed to have destroyed ten Iranian oil tankers in the past week, a move that Iran's foreign ministry has condemned as 'a dangerous escalation of tensions in the region'.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the vessels were part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that funds the IRGC, and Iran cannot defend them.
In response to the US attacks on Iranian oil tankers, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a US Navy vessel with ballistic missiles 'twice over the past two days', according to CENTCOM.
The US military denied that any of its warships were hit, but admitted that it destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers in retaliation.
