US Targets Iran's Oil Fleet in Retaliatory Strikes

The US military launched retaliatory strikes on three Iranian oil carriers in response to attacks against two US Navy warships. The US Central Command (Centcom) conducted the strikes near Kharg Island and in the Gulf of Oman, permanently disabling the vessels.

No US service members were harmed during the Iranian attacks, according to Centcom. Centcom Commander Adm. Brad Cooper warned that if Iran shoots at US ships, 'we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'

The exchange of hostilities follows escalating military operations from both sides this week. After the US carried out roughly 100 strikes against Iranian targets on Tuesday, Tehran responded by targeting US military bases and allies in strikes across the Middle East.
