US Tariffs, Oil Prices Weigh on Bursa Malaysia as Plantation Index Shines
Kuala Lumpur's stock market took a hit on Friday as investors digested fresh US tariffs on goods from 60 economies, including Malaysia. The Bursa Malaysia Plantation Index bucked the trend by rising 0.7%, however.
The index was lifted by gains in SD Guthrie Bhd, Johor Plantations Group Bhd and TSH Resources Bhd, while the Transportation and logistics sector added 4.23 points or 0.42%. The REIT Index rose 1.49 points or 0.16%.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 13.57 points or 0.79% to close at 1,701.02 after trading between 1,697.76 and 1,710.80 during the session.
