US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced an economic offensive against Iran on Monday, aiming to isolate the country and reduce its trading partners' ties. The new measures could target Iranian oil exports and trading partners that continue to do business with Tehran.

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) US Oil price fell 1.55% to around $85.00 as investors took profits ahead of the announcement, but remains supported by concerns about global supply.

Iranian authorities warned that cooperation with Washington could be considered an 'act of war' and threatened to halt oil exports from the Gulf in case of further escalation.
