US-Venezuela Oil Deal Secures 25-Year Production Target
Venezuela's interim president, Guaido-aligned leader Rodriguez, has announced that the US oil deal will last for 25 years. The agreement aims to develop 17 strategic oilfields with a production target of over 1.5 million barrels per day.
The $100 billion private investment is expected to revitalize Venezuela's oil industry, which has been plagued by intense pressure from the Trump administration and crippling sanctions.
However, concerns have been raised about the lack of transparency in the deal, with many Venezuelans questioning the benefits for their country. Rodriguez has emphasized that Venezuela retains ownership and sovereignty over its resources.
Analysts agree that restoring production to pre-crisis levels would take time, estimating it will take at least three or four years to see significant increases in oil output.
