Across the United States, voters in key midterm races are expressing opposition to the proliferation of data centers. A recent NBC News Decision Desk Poll found that 69% of respondents oppose the construction of AI data centers in their local area, with 45% saying they 'strongly oppose' the idea.

Rural Iowa's Dawn Vogel, a Republican county supervisor, has taken a stand against data centers by voting for a moratorium that temporarily bans them from setting up shop in her heavily Republican county. Vogel believes that the issue is not partisan and that voters in her area are united in their opposition to data centers.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military took action against Iran after Iranian forces launched ballistic missiles toward two Navy ships. In response, the U.S. struck three Iranian oil tankers, permanently disabling one crude oil carrier off the coast of Kharg Island and destroying another vessel near the Gulf of Oman.
