US Wages Economic War on Iran as Oil Halt Threat Looms
The US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, has threatened Iran with what he calls 'the largest economic attack ever carried out,' ahead of the announcement of new sanctions targeting Tehran and its trading partners.
Iran, for its part, is vowing to halt all oil exports from the Gulf 'if the economic war continues,' while warning that countries that cooperate with the US will 'face serious consequences.'
Tehran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei wrote on social media: 'If the economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be exported, not through the Strait of Hormuz and not from anywhere in the Persian Gulf.'
