USA Base Oil Prices Stable Amid Balanced Market Conditions
USA Base Oil prices remained steady in late August, as the market stabilized after a mid-month surge. A balanced supply and demand scenario contributed to this stabilization, with tighter availability of heavier grades supporting prices. However, buyers were cautious about building inventories at elevated replacement costs.
Refinery economics also played a crucial role in determining base oil production feedstocks. As a result, the market continued to receive support from steady lubricant demand and seasonal transportation activity. But producers remained defensive about prices due to refinery economics restricting replacement supply.
The USA Base Oil price trend showed a gradual strengthening through August before losing momentum in the final week. Grade-specific movements became increasingly important, with Group II H 100 rising by around 1.83% during the week ending August 21. Despite this individual grade movement, the overall USA Base Oil assessment remained unchanged in late August.
Looking ahead to September, USA Base Oil prices are anticipated to remain stable to slightly firmer as autumn transportation activity supports lubricant consumption and availability remains relatively constrained across selected Group II and Group III grades.
