USDA AMS Grain Bids Show Mixed Movements Across Key Markets
The US Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA AMS) released grain bids for August 18, 2026. The data shows mixed movements in wheat, corn, and soybean prices across key Midwest and export markets.
In Kansas, ordinary protein wheat bids at West terminals ranged from -75 to -60 cents basis, unchanged. However, prices were up 4.5 cents between $6.8375 and $6.9875 per bushel. Year-ago averages were $4.2350 and $4.7625, respectively.
Illinois saw Chicago terminal bids for ordinary protein wheat at -15 to -5 cents basis, up 5 cents to unchanged. Prices ranged from $6.5975 to $6.6975. Central Illinois country elevator average prices were $4.51 for corn, down 14 cents, and $12.06 for soybeans, down 10 cents.
The USDA AMS data also shows that Indiana barge loading elevators on the Ohio River bid $5.5500 for corn, up 6 cents, and $5.6450 for white corn, up 6.25 cents. Country elevator corn bids varied by region, with some up and some down.
