USDA Cuts Corn Yield, Soybeans See Slight Gain
The USDA's September Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report showed that corn yield was down to 178.5 bu. per acre, a 2.2 bu. decrease from August.
This reduction in corn yield was widely anticipated by the trade, which had estimated it would be around 178.4 bu. per acre.
Jim McCormick of AgMarket.net stated that the trade 'did a pretty good job estimating' and as such, there wasn't a massive bullish movement on this number.
