USDA Predicts Higher Soybean Prices and Rising Corn Costs
The September USDA report has released its predictions for corn, soybeans, and milk production in the US. The outlook projects smaller overall corn supplies due to a reduction in yield and harvested area, leading to an increase in season-average prices for producers.
Corn production is forecast at 15.8 billion bushels, down from last month's projection of 16.013 million bushels. This decrease is driven by a 2.2-bushel drop in yield to 178.5 bushels per acre and a fractional decrease in harvested area to 88.5 million acres.
The season-average corn price received by producers has been raised to $4.80, a $0.30 increase from last month's projection. Despite the lower overall production, exports remain unchanged at 3.3 billion bushels, reflecting steady global demand.
