USDA Report Expected to Reveal Shift in Corn and Soybean Supplies
The USDA is set to release its September Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) reports on September 11, providing traders with crucial information about the state of U.S. corn and soybean supplies.
Since the last WASDE report in mid-August, row-crop prices have surged to multi-year highs, leading traders to seek reassurance that this upward trend is justified as harvest approaches.
The December 2026 corn contract has rallied almost 90 cents to its early September peak, but has since drifted lower due to overbuying. The USDA's August forecast for U.S. corn yields was slashed by 2.3 bushels per acre after poor pollination weather in late July.
Traders expect the national average corn yield to be around 178.1 bushels per acre, which would result in a crop of 15.780 billion bushels, lower than last year's but still one of the largest on record.
