USDA Report Looms as Grain Markets Brace for Volatile Yield Surprise
The U.S. grain markets are bracing for a potentially volatile yield surprise in the upcoming USDA report, which could significantly impact commodity prices and supply chain dynamics.
As of August 12, December corn futures had gained 3.25 cents to $4.6375 per bushel, while November soybeans climbed 4.75 cents to $11.7350 per bushel.
The uncertainty surrounding the report has traders anticipating modest cuts to yields and supplies, which could alter commodity prices, projected ending stocks, marketing decisions, and revenue expectations for U.S. farmers.
Analysts surveyed ahead of the report expect the national corn yield at 182.4 bushels per acre, compared with USDA's July projection of 183 bpa, while production is expected to fall roughly 66 million bushels to 15.934 billion.
