USDA Reports Mixed Results for Corn, Soybeans, Cotton
The USDA released its weekly Crop Progress report on August 10, 2026. The report covers conditions for major crops as of the week ending August 9, 2026.
Corn progress and condition were reported for 18 states that planted 91% of the 2025 corn acreage. As of August 9, 2026, 94% of the corn acreage in these states had reached the silking stage, up from 90% the previous week and above the five-year average of 93%. The condition of the corn crop was rated 4% very poor, 10% poor, 25% fair, 48% good, and 13% excellent.
Soybean data cover 18 states representing 96% of the 2025 soybean acreage. By August 9, 2026, 93% of soybeans were blooming, compared to 88% the previous week and the five-year average of 91%. The soybean condition was rated 2% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 51% good, and 11% excellent.
Cotton data cover 15 states representing 99% of the 2025 cotton acreage. As of August 9, 2026, 93% of cotton was setting bolls, up from 88% the previous week and matching the five-year average. The cotton condition was rated 6% very poor, 16% poor, 38% fair, 33% good, and 7% excellent.
