USDA Reports Significant Increase in Pacific Northwest Wheat Barge Shipments
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service released its Pacific Northwest grain market report for the week ending July 31, 2026. According to the report, weekly barge shipments of wheat totaled 4,245 thousand bushels for the week of July 26, up from 741 thousand bushels the prior week and 3,278 thousand bushels in the same week a year earlier.
The current crop year (June-May) cumulative wheat barge shipments reached 14,635 thousand bushels, compared with 14,786 thousand bushels at the same point in the previous crop year. Barley barge shipments were zero for both the week and the cumulative crop year, matching the prior year's totals.
Monthly data for July 2026 show total wheat barge shipments of 7,473 thousand bushels, with cumulative shipments for the June 2026-May 2027 crop year at 14,635 thousand bushels. By class, soft white wheat led with 6,891 thousand bushels in July and 12,984 thousand bushels cumulatively.
