USDA Trims Corn Yield, Soybean Exports Boost Carryout
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, revealing significant changes to corn yields and production levels.
According to the report, the USDA trimmed the 2026 corn crop yield by 2.2 bushels per acre to 178.5 bushels, resulting in a decrease of 213 million bushels in production. This adjustment led to a new-crop carryout of 1.567 billion bushels, down from August's estimate.
The soybean market saw an increase in yield by 0.1 bushel per acre to 52.8 bushels, with a corresponding rise in harvested acres. However, exports increased by 25 million bushels, reducing carryout to 310 million bushels.
Wheat numbers remained unchanged, with yield staying at 47.8 bushels and production holding steady at 1.531 billion bushels. Cotton production was reduced due to lower yields.
