USDA's latest weather outlook shows sharp contrasts across the country, with extreme heat gripping parts of the South and moderate temperatures benefiting crops in the Midwest. Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 105°F in some areas of Texas and Oklahoma, while scattered showers bring relief from recent heatwaves in other parts of the region.

In contrast, the Corn Belt is experiencing favorable temperatures for corn and soybean growth, but uneven moisture levels pose a risk. Parts of Illinois and Indiana received up to 12 inches of rain last week, leading to moderate lowland flooding that may affect crop yields. However, recent rainfall totals are expected to be more evenly distributed over the next five days.

The USDA's late-August forecast indicates that extreme heat will remain confined to the Deep South for the remainder of the week, while temperatures gradually rise across the High Plains and West. The Midwest is expected to maintain favorable temperatures for summer crops, with readings above 90°F mostly limited to parts of Missouri.
