Uzbekistan's Energy Output Slips in First Half of 2026

Uzbekistan's energy production has taken a hit in the first half of this year. Natural gas output plummeted by 16.4% to 18.3 billion cubic meters, while oil production declined 3.1% to 313,800 tonnes. Gas condensate production also fell, down 19.7% to 462,100 tonnes.

Coal production suffered as well, with Uzbekistan producing 2.5 million tonnes in January, June, a drop of 16.7% from the same period last year and 3.8% compared to 2024.

However, some sectors saw growth. Portland cement output reached 10.1 million tonnes, up 2% from 2025 and 31.2% from 2024. Diesel production rose by 2.1% to 568,000 tonnes, a 12.5% increase over 2024 levels.

Electricity generation also saw an increase of 5.7%, driven by small businesses, which generated 14.31 billion kWh, up 36.7%. Large enterprises, on the other hand, reduced their electricity production by 4.6% to 29.83 billion kWh and heat production fell 18.1% to 9.28 million gigacalories.
