Valeura Speeds Up Wassana Redevelopment in Thailand
Valeura Energy is accelerating the redevelopment of its Wassana oil field in the Gulf of Thailand, aiming to bring forward first oil production by several months.
The company has made significant progress with the construction of a new central processing platform (CPP), which will replace the existing mobile offshore production unit (MOPU).
According to Valeura's President and CEO Dr. Sean Guest, mechanical completion at the yard could occur as early as October 1.
This has allowed the company to install the new facility earlier than planned, potentially leading to first oil from the new development in early Q2 2027.
The accelerated schedule is expected to add around 430,000 barrels of oil production compared to the original development timeline.
