Vance: US Expects Iran to Restore Oil Flow Through Strait of Hormuz
The US expects Iran to restore oil and gas flow through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-conflict levels, according to US Vice President JD Vance.
Vance told Fox News that Washington is monitoring Iranian statements about potentially imposing tolls on vessels using the strategic waterway, saying 'The Iranians have told us they have no plans to toll the Strait of Hormuz.'
The US vice president emphasized that Iran had communicated its intention to Washington to restore oil and gas flow to pre-conflict levels, but added, 'We don't trust. We verify.'
Vance stated that Iran and Gulf countries, particularly Oman, have been discussing ways to maintain safe maritime traffic.
The US is also pushing for Iran's commitment to not firing on commercial vessels, with Vance saying, 'They're hurting in a big way. They want this thing to be over.'
