Venezuela-US Oil Deal Sparks Hope for Regional Economic Growth
US President Donald Trump announced that his country has reached an agreement with Venezuela involving the development of its vast oil reserves, estimated at 65 billion barrels. This historic deal was negotiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, along with Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez.
Rodriguez hailed the agreement as a significant milestone in bilateral relations between Venezuela and the US, saying it will facilitate a substantial flow of investment for the recovery and reconstruction of strategic infrastructure and development of Venezuela's hydrocarbons industry.
The initiative aims to increase oil production with the participation of private operators and involves the development of 17 strategic fields. It is expected to attract over $100 billion in investments, generating more than $209 billion in taxes for the state.
Venezuelan Energy Minister Rodriguez emphasized that the goal is to consolidate Venezuela's position as an energy-producing power, using its vast reserves to support national development, create jobs, increase workers' incomes, and improve the well-being of its people.
