Venture Global Sued Over Sediment Spill at Louisiana LNG Terminal

A group of commercial fishers, fishing guides, and seafood processors in southwest Louisiana are suing liquefied natural gas company Venture Global, claiming that dredging operations for a new terminal resulted in a sediment spill that killed millions of oysters and diminished catches of finfish, crabs, and shrimp.

The lawsuit alleges that the sediment spill caused significant damage to the local seafood industry, with losses estimated to be substantial. The plaintiffs claim that Venture Global's actions were negligent and reckless, resulting in irreparable harm to their livelihoods and the environment.

Venture Global already operates a nearly $10 billion LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, and the new terminal is currently under construction. The company has faced criticism from local residents and business owners who claim that its operations are harming the environment and the economy.
