Venture Global Surges as Major LNG Project Breaks Ground Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Shares of Venture Global, Inc. (VG) reached a five-month high after the company issued a Full Notice to Proceed for Phase 2 of its CP2 LNG project in Louisiana.
The move marked a key step in expanding export capacity and came as geopolitical tensions boosted sentiment, following Iran's attack on a key LNG facility in Qatar that disrupted supply and pushed oil and gas prices higher.
The $8.6 billion in project financing for Phase 2 takes total CP2 funding to $20.7 billion, making it one of the largest U.S. project financings.
Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel said this milestone positions the company to become the largest U.S. LNG exporter once CP2 is fully operational, with peak production capacity of 29 million tonnes per annum and nearly all output already secured under long-term contracts.
