Gold prices in Vietnam took a minor hit on Friday morning despite a global uptick. The Saigon Jewelry Company's gold bar price dropped by 0.35% to VND142.2 million per tael, but remains up 0.85% for the week.

This is still higher than global rates, which have narrowed from over VND10 million last week to roughly VND6 million per tael today.

Globally, gold prices firmed on Friday and were poised for their biggest weekly gain since January, according to Reuters. Weaker oil prices and anticipation of U.S. nonfarm payrolls data contributed to the increase.
