Vietnamese Gold Prices Remain Stable but Buying-Selling Spread May Bite
As of August 31, 2026, gold prices in Vietnam remain stable at the beginning of the week. According to various sources, including BTMC and PNJ, the buying price for gold bars is around 145.7-148.7 million VND per ounce, with a selling price of up to 3 million VND higher than the buying price. This means that buyers who invest in gold at the current market rate may immediately lose 3 million VND per ounce when reselling it.
Some gold shops, such as Mi Hong and Phu Quy, have maintained their prices, while others like BTMC have a wider bid-ask spread of up to 3.4 million VND per ounce. The price difference may seem small, but for those who are new to investing in gold, it can add up quickly.
Despite the stable prices, buyers and sellers alike should be cautious when making transactions. With a buy-sell spread of up to 3 million VND per ounce, investors may not break even on their investment if they resell immediately.
