Vietnamese Gold Prices Slide as USD Strengthens and US Monetary Policy Tightens
Gold prices in Vietnam were under downward pressure on August 29th, according to Laodong.vn. The price of 9999 Tich Tai Gold Ring, listed by Ancarat, was between 147-150 million VND/tael (buying - selling), down 1.2 million VND/tael in both directions.
Phu Quy Jewelry Group listed the price of gold rings at the threshold of 147.2-150.2 million VND/tael, an increase of 200,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions.
The strengthening USD is also becoming a significant drag on gold prices. After Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole conference, many major currencies weakened against the USD, while the yields of US 2-year-term bonds increased sharply.
